Anticipation.

As each day passes, the Boston Marathon gets exactly one day closer. Fact.

I’ve never experienced anticipation quite like this before. That goes for any Christmas morning, last day of school, Super Bowl, Game 7, championship parade – anything. I literally, already know that April 21st will be one of the biggest and best days of my life. And to me, that is so incredibly awesome.

I think about it during my training runs. I talk about it with friends & family. I read articles about it. I talk to people who have been there before. The crowds, the noise, the craziness – it’s going to be completely insane, in the best way possible. Yet, I know that there is no way of actually understanding what it will feel like until it happens. And I absolutely cannot wait.

This anticipation comes with a whirlwind of other emotions – pride, pain, determination, hope, inspiration, happiness, love. In my eyes, this is about way more than just running 26.2 miles and crossing something off of my bucket list. It’s about helping kids. It’s about making a difference. It’s about persevering. It’s about resilience.

If you’d like to help the kids at Boston Children’s Hospital, while simultaneously contributing to one of the best days of my life, donations can be made here: http://fundraise.childrenshospital.org/goto/vdigirolamo. A very big, and sincere, thank you to everyone who has contributed!

39 days to go…
